February 3, 2024 David Lindenbaum, CFP® joins BAFEF Board of Directors

BAFEF is pleased to announce the appointment of David Lindenbaum, CFP® to its Board of Directors. With an extensive background in financial planning and a commitment to financial education, Lindenbaum brings a wealth of expertise that will contribute to the Foundation's mission of empowering individuals in the Bay Area through financial literacy.

David Lindenbaum has been working within the wealth management industry for over three decades. His dedication to financial services aligns seamlessly with BAFEF's vision to build a financially informed and resilient community.

"We are thrilled to welcome David Lindenbaum to our Board of Directors," said Tina Marchetti, Executive Director of BAFEF. "His depth of knowledge and passion for financial education will be invaluable as we continue to expand our programs and outreach to empower individuals in the Bay Area to make informed financial decisions."

Lindenbaum's professional experience and commitment to community engagement make him a natural fit for the Foundation. His expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing BAFEF's initiatives to provide accessible financial education resources, workshops, and seminars to the diverse communities across the Bay Area. He has been teaching personal finance classes in BAFEF’s program since 2021, working with disadvantaged youth in rural settings.

2/13/23 Jennifer Morimoto joins BAFEF Board of Directors

BAFEF is excited to announce the appointment of Jennifer Morimoto to its Board of Directors. Jennifer is the Co-Founder and COO of a private equity real estate company, Madison Investing. Through her background in real estate investing, Jennifer brings a unique perspective to the world of financial education. In a world ripe with opportunities for philanthropic effort, Jennifer has had a laser focus on supporting financial literacy causes. 

Jennifer also has deep expertise in marketing strategy and ecommerce, having had a 15 year career growing and managing brands. She is thrilled to be able to utilize these skills once again to further the BAFEF mission.

In addition to serving on the Board of Directors at BAFEF, Jennifer will also serve as Chair to the Marketing Committee and also volunteer on the Fundraising Committee. 

Congratulations to Jennifer for this appointment. We look forward to working together to continue to support Bay Area youth’s financial education.

1/15/23 BAFEF Thanks its 2022 Corporate Sponsors Supporting Financial Literacy

The Bay Area Financial Education Foundation is grateful for the support from its Corporate Sponsors including Bailard Wealth Management, Charles Schwab Foundation, T. Rowe Price Foundation, Dodge and Cox, First Republic Bank, Anderson Family Foundation and Wealth Architects. “We’re delighted that these firms support our efforts to educate local youth on basic personal finance, and to see many of them encourage their employees to volunteer. We’re even more thrilled that several firms have increased their financial support this year, considering the expansion of our program and ongoing requests for our classes throughout the Bay Area” says Tina Marchetti, Executive Director. BAFEF has taught more than 4,000 students about the basics of personal finance since starting its workshops in 2020.

1/5/23 BAFEF Thanks Retiring Board Members Cynthia Flannigan And Conrad Herrman For Their Service

We’d like to thank Conrad Herrmann and Cynthia Flannigan for their time and commitment after having served on BAFEF’s Board of Directors. 

Conrad joined BAFEF in 2011 and was a steadfast advocate of the organization’s mission from the very early years. His experience in the financial industry was crucial to provide the foundation that BAFEF needed to get off the ground and stand where it is today.

Cynthia joined the Board of Directors in 2020 and was instrumental in the organization’s outreach efforts. She has spent the last three years growing the organization’s online presence and building awareness of our mission to the masses.

11/1/22 Erik Satre, CPA joins BAFEF Board of Directors

BAFEF’s Board of Directors are thrilled to announce the appointment of Erik Satre, CPA to a three-year term. Erik is very passionate about financial literacy in education. He has been a volunteer teacher for BAFEF since the inception of the Student Workshop Program and also serves on the Curriculum Committee. Erik has a diverse background in finance and brings energy and enthusiasm to BAFEF’s leadership team as we expand our resources to help even more students.

“We’re proud to announce our latest addition to the Board of Directors, Erik Satre. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge on business strategy from the for-profit world” says BAFEF President, Cameron Crisman, CFA.

Erik is currently a Finance Strategist at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Cloud Economics group where he helps large companies understand the economics of moving to the Cloud. In addition to his work in economics, Erik has over a decade of experience as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Strategic Advisor in Finance and Analytics. Erik has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Santa Clara University, and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

8/15/22 BAFEF Teaches at SF Oasis for Girls

BAFEF volunteers April Antonio, CFP® and Lena Robinson taught students at SF Oasis for Girls. This amazing nonprofit partners with young women of color, aged 14-18, from under-resourced communities in San Francisco to cultivate the skills, knowledge, and confidence to discover their dreams and build strong futures. "BAFEF volunteers April and Lena brought so much enthusiasm to our high school girls, and in their end of program reflections, several of them mentioned the financial literacy lessons as their highlights." says Gabi Garzon Gupta, Program Coordinator at Oasis for Girls. BAFEF is thrilled to support financial education for these young women and help them build a strong foundation of financial knowledge.

7/1/22 BAFEF reaches 4,000 student milestone

More than 4,000 Bay Area students have participated in BAFEF’s Student Workshop program since its inception in March, 2020. “We’re so thrilled at the success of our new program and the support we’ve received from the volunteers in the financial community” says Tina Marchetti, Executive Director. BAFEF’s leadership is focused on expanding our infrastructure and resources to scale our program, with a volunteer recruitment campaign beginning in Fall 2022. 8/1/21 Robinhood Supports BAFEF

Robinhood Foundation has provided BAFEF with a generous donation to support our programs in local schools this year. We’re thrilled with their support for financial education and applaud their commitment to Bay Area youth.

5/21/21 BAFEF reaches milestone of 2,000 students taught

It’s official - on Friday May 21, 2021 volunteer Maureen Recker, CFP taught our “Basics of Investing” module to Benicia High School’s grade 12 economics class, surpassing the milestone of 2,000 students taught in our program! “This was THE BEST presentation we have ever had! Thank you so much!” said BHS Economics Teacher Joan Westerman. Requests for our classes continue to arrive for Summer youth programs, and we’re gearing up to make an even bigger impact starting this fall. With nearly 50 volunteers now committed to teaching our program, we are excited about the different that we can make in the lives of these young people by teaching critical personal finance skills to Bay Area youth.


 

2/11/21 BAFEF Teaches more than 400 Students at Lincoln High School’s Mustang Exchange Day

Eight BAFEF volunteers led classes for the students at Lincoln High School in San Francisco as part of their Mustang Exchange Day on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Organized by the Associated Student Body team, this special event allowed students from throughout the school to participate in breakout enrichment sessions, with options ranging from hip-hop dance instruction to cultivating healthy relationships and cooking classes. BAFEF’s personal finance sessions quickly filled, and hundreds of eager students improved their financial literacy learning the Basics of Budgeting, Understanding Credit and Debt and Why Credit Scores Matter, Budgeting and Paying for College and a Crash Course on Investing! We were thrilled to be a part of this exciting program for the students at Lincoln High School!
