CFA Charter

The CFA Program

The CFA Program is a graduate-level self-study program that combines a broad-based curriculum of investment principles with professional conduct requirements. It is designed to prepare candidates for a wide range of investment specialties that apply in every market all over the world. To earn a CFA charter, one must study for three exams (Levels I, II, III) using an assigned curriculum. If one passes all three exams and meets the professional and ethical requirements, they may then become a regular member of CFA Institute, or “charterholder.” The CFA Program curriculum changes each year to reflect the dynamic nature and complexity of the global investment profession.

The CFA Program is administered by CFA Institute, the global, not-for-profit organization comprised of the world’s largest association of investment professionals. With nearly 100,000 members and 137 regional societies around the world, CFA Institute is dedicated to developing and promoting the highest educational, ethical, and professional standards in the investment industry.
